- I See You - Written in 2018, when I first began seeing I wasn't the only woman in the church suffering in silence and swallowing her truth... this song was written for the other women I was witnessing experiencing the fallout and judgement for not conforming. I got a strong hit in 2019 to get in touch with SB about this song. I heard her voice on it. Though I couldn't figure it out back then, I just turned it over to the Universe tonight and it felt like a weight lifted even if nothing comes of it... I trust in the divine timing of everything without any attachments. Usually something that happens is not the thing I aimed for at all even if it's updating my website!
- Take up Space - In the wake of the 2020 “me too” movement & my highly scrutinized move away from the patriarch climate of the Mormon church - many women empowerment songs were born in my Sacred Rage. Take up Space is a power ballad meant to be a closer for the “Leaving" musical and features a sing along ending. I put the produced track into AI to show how it could sound with great production. I am unable to afford great production and I'm prolific with songwriting… so lately I've been producing them through the AI apps and have conflicted feelings about it. I don't want to release it that way, nor do I want poor production. AI never touches my melodies or lyrics. Heck, I'm too proud to even use spell check!
- Silent Warrior - It's hard enough to be abused by someone holding status and callings in the church, but then when you come forward about it to have the church shut it down and sweep it under the rug while they call their lawyers to access damage control, throwing away testimonials and telling you not to worry about it - it happens… talk about trauma when you aren't supported when you come forward. This song is written for the victims to encourage them to speak up… for if we all do we create a safer space. Not yet mastered or mixed… and missing my violin on the music break - this track was made with a producer, James Villa and Ryan Benyo added my voice.
- Glass House - this is a very old recording of Glass House theme song with a lovely voice and a terrible piano part… I am not great at piano, I am a violinist. I have much improved new backing track made, but no voice on it yet. Hope to change that soon. It is a song shared with the four women on stage - they have solo lines and come together on the chorus. During these songs they are “neutral” humans having a similar experience together and not in any of the eras. This is what makes the show so cool. The Faith Crisis experience is universal…. when I read Ann Eliza's book, her experience in the 1800's was similar to mine.
Sharing songs that weave hearts together with song threads of hope, belonging, & courage.
