About:

Colleen Porter is a multi-faceted artist, musician, playwright and composer whose gift is to alchemize life through voice, storytelling, and songwriting. She hopes to empower and inspire others, especially women to create their “Second Act” embracing their wholeness and sovereignty… lovingly rediscovering themselves to create a nourishing life they love. May we all see each other a little more compassionately through music, healing work, storytelling and shared experiences.

Colleen began her family early and has three grown men now, whom she loves dearly and were a joy to raise with her then husband, Lloyd. While raising kids, she presevered in her university studies in music, graduating after many years attending part-time with a degree in music education from ASU. She spent a couple decades teaching music part time in various ways… sharing the joy of music and movement with children where she also began naturally creating original music for them. Her focus on violin carries into the music she creates today. She loves improvising on the spot with different styles of music and becomes more musically creative with it every year.

Around 2011, some deeply difficult events threw her into a faith / midlife crisis where she questioned her definitions of love, God, and her roles in spirituality that she adopted in religion at age 18. A beautiful journey of self-love and self rediscovery quieted her previously critical mind, she began a new unfolding relationship with spirituality and finding a new relationship with God. The world became new again with a new mindset and daily energetic practices that she soon began expanding upon and creating herself.

Yoga, meditation, breathwork and regular energetic cleansing became an important part of surviving the years of fall-out choosing between the inevitable destruction of moving into her own beliefs or staying in a religion that no longer matched her definitions of love. .  She soon began training and certifying in the modalities that helped her. Writing, songwriting, and returning to her love of theatre was an important part of this healing journey 2011 - 2019… the years where there was no space to speak any truth or experience that disagreed. Our marriage began to soften about this time,  This is important because her silenced years set fire to her writing and helped her develop her healing tools of alchemy she shares around voice such as her “Vocal Alchemy Method” and “Song Therapy”.

Writing furiously in musical theatre, she returned to college a few more years to take as many courses as she could in playwriting, directing, production, and performing to have a well-rounded experience and hopefully guide her to writing scripts that are satisfying on many levels. She wrote three musicals in the space of two years that were featured on local stages. At the core of everything she does is a desire to make some impact to reduce human suffering in some way… that somebody feels loved, validated, empowered or healed in some way through one of her songs, musicals, a personalized retreat, or by rediscovering their voice again.
